During chapter seventeen while Ishmael undergoing rehabilitation at the hospital. In the process Nurse Esther helps Ishmael to begin to regain trust in people. If you were Ishmael would you start to trust people or would you still guard your heart and why may you react in this manner?
I think I would definitely still be weary of all those around me. After going through some much and seeing what he had seen, I find it only fair to allow him to feel as he felt. Not to mention I believe all the staff there knew what the boys had endured and sympathized with that fact alone. This is why they didnt hold resentment towards the boys when they acted out and were violent.
During Eighteenth chapter, Ishamel started to feel alone in the rehabilitaion center. meanwhile, he confinded in Esther as a sister figur. while Ishamel is almost the process of reintegrating into society. During this time Ishamel's counselor' Leslie is looking for a foster home for him but somehow Ishmael provides information about his fathers long lost brother. He gets in contact with this uncle and somehow meets him, but he diesnt look like his father. Honest opinoin about the uncle , do you consider him a true realative of Ishamel or do you think that he is an con artist ? Explain why do you feel this ways.
If I were Ishmael I would do the same. Because after those kind of horrible experiences that he went through it is very difficult to trust somebody he just knew. There are many people that he met before, who always tried to manipulate him, take advantage of him, let alone those he just met in a few while. I think it was not easy to overcome a horrible past experience that traumatized him so much. It takes times . But after sometime, and lots of effort of those people in the rehabilitation centre to convince him he built trust anyhow.
i think that i would still have a guard up around me at all times, because after having a pass like that and all the crazy encounters he has been through through out his pass i would have a mentality that i wouldnt be able to let anyone in
IF i was ishamel i would still guard my heart just in case something goes wrong. But after the changes i still have some hope for the people that im around.
I think if I was Ishamel, I would be aware and be cautious of whom I can trust and at the same time I will evaluate the situation especially after what the war causes to his life.It may take some time for Ishmael to regain that trust to someone.And undergoing rehabilitation would at least help him some ways to withdraw all the tragic memories that he had experienced during the war.
If i was ishmael i would try to trust people again, because not all people are the same. I would think about how my family is and consider that there are other people like that. he sees that the nurse is kind and caring.
yes i would start to trust people because you don't know if their trying to help you. The reason I would act this way is being that I already don't have my family to turn to so why not open up to someone else. Maybe they knew someone who experience the same thing before and could help me with my situation.
if i were in ishmael's position, i would try to trust other people again because they would try to care about me and help me out from all the hard life that i been going through. for example, the nurse was a really helpful, she was trying to help ishmael to be happy and feel better. It shows that not all the people are the same. There are people who really care about someone and try to help him/her out to get through out all the streesful life.
i believe the man that leslie had found for ishmael, is his really uncle because he had told him that his father had a lot of brother from differnet mothers. Also, he told him that his father was always quite man, which is true every thing he had said to him. Uncle tommy was taking care of Ishmael, he was treating him as one of his son. He was showing him love and trying to make him happy.
Responding to MZ.CHANTGIOUS...If I were Ishmael I would definitely try to regain some sort of trust. The reason being is because I would want to leave the negative part of my past behind and look forward to the future. By trying to trust again, is a good start

If i was Ishmael i wouldn't trust people just yet until i was able to control my anger. For example Ishmael was very harmful and will threated the children in the hospital. He had let his anger get the best of him when it come to people. I will also take my time in trusting people little by little people will have to prove them self's to me. So i can truth them for the simple fact the past i have and all the violence i saw and went through.
I feel that Ishmael's uncle was a very true relative for the simple fact that. When he saw Ishmael he went and hugged him and started crying if he wasn't a true relative. He would have never felt emotional about seeing Ishmael but then again it just sound's to good to be true it's just a little fishy in my part.
