I know that some of the incidents we read about in "A Long Way Gone" can be disturbing and sad. This article that you can read (or listen to if you have headphones) gives hope that all is not lost. This is a picture of the writer, Deborah George, and young girl she talks about, Baindu.
After you read the article, post a comment saying what you thought about it.

This is a beautiful story,in the middle of so much pain and sorrow. I like the fact that I'm reading something positive about Sierra Leone, and that someone who really cares can help. This girl was very lucky ,and the curse of her life changed for good.
I know Its such a great thing to know that through all the killing and kidnapping someone made it out and came to America to lead a normal life. My heart goes out to all the people of sierra Leone.
Reading that article made me feel alittle sad. Because i couldn't imagine what the people of Sierra Leone is going though.I glad that someone like Ishmael made it and have the experience to tell the world his story. my preys and my heart go out to the people of Sierra Leone.
After reading this article I can now picture how life was for people like Ishmael and all others like him. My heart goes out for all the people that lost parts of there badys, and for those who past-away. I can imagine how there love once feel right now.
After reading this article i had learned what was going on in sierra Leone. The young boys and girls was really struggling in their life. The rebels gives them drugs to make them chop people's legs and arms. Ishmael had survived a lot in his life. Sierra Leone is very poor country. People there are having a hard life facing these wars.
